Aerosols in West Africa: physical and chemical characterization, optical properties and source apportionment

Thesis objectives:
- To determine the concentrations and chemical composi/on of submicron particles at the ground level of a West African site (close to Dakar, Senegal) during the dry season
- To identify aerosol sources and formation processes and quantify their contributions
- To assess the interest of chemical knowledge at the ground level to better understand and validate optical and physical properties derived from flight and satellite measurements
- To evaluate how well current models can explain the variabilities of atmospheric aerosol burden
