From Sea to Sky: The Connection between Marine Aerosols and the Ocean

Marine aerosols are a vital link between the ocean and atmosphere, shaping climate and cloud formation.This presentation explores their formation, composition, and parameterization, with a special focus on oceanic sources and on the sea surface microlayer (SML)—the ocean’s dynamic « skin. » Additionally, it examines the influence of the SML on Arctic aerosols and their role in cloud processes, highlighting key interactions between the ocean and atmosphere.
